The Story

Peony-flowering dahlias, like Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff', have a completely different flower to the one we commonly think of with regard to dahlias. From above, they give the appearance of a headdress centred over a swirling cloak. In Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff's case the head-piece is a very dark maroon-black, surrounded by golden upright petals. The cloak is scarlet red. One of the striking things about this dahlia is the extremely dark almost black foliage its stunning flowers have as a backdrop.

The bloom opens it double petals to 10cm wide in the mid and late summer and can continue flowering into autumn. It would make a showy container plant or cut flower.
